Sell your work through Fifobooks.com and reach a broad audience on multiple device platforms.

Unlike traditional publishing agreements, you retain all the rights, maintain full editorial control, set your own prices, and keep the majority of the sales revenue.

Once you've signed up, press the   Publish Book   button, and upload your work. Within a few minutes, your ebook will be available to all Fifobooks.com readers. You can also change the price, update or remove your book at any time.

Publishing through Fifobooks.com requires that your work is in electronic form (see the FAQ below, for more details), and that you abide by the Terms of Use.

1. Are there any costs to publish?

No. Registration is free, and you can publish as many books as you wish.

2. What do I need to publish?

You'll be asked to come up with a title, a brief description of one or two paragraphs, and set a sale price (you can also make your work available for free). You also need to define which topic category best defines your work, and you have the option of adding a custom cover image (this is the image readers will see when browsing).

You also need a book, of course. The book file you upload for publishing needs to be in epub format.

3. How do I create an epub file?

Start with this guide, which links to tutorials and (mostly) free software tools you can use.

If you are technically inclined, and don't want to use a word processor type tool, you can make epub files from scratch.

No matter how you create your .epub file, please confirm it before publishing.

4. How do I create a cover image?

You can use any image editing software capable of producing png, jpeg, or gif format files. Popular choices include Adobe Photoshop and Gimp.

Remember these notes when creating your cover image:

• • Image size should be 590 pixels wide x 750 pixels high
• • Image resolution should be 72 pixels per inch (ppi) or higher
• • Use color images, saved in RGB color space
• • Image format rules of thumb are:
•       • JPEG is best for photographs
•       • GIF and PNG formats are good for logos, charts, and graphs

Similar to any book content you upload, the cover image must comply with the Terms of Use.

5. How do I let people know my ebook is on sale?

Use our live web widget for your site and blog. The widget displays all the current books you have for sale on Fifobooks.com, and it is automatically updated whenever you publish a new title.

To get the customized snippet of html code you will need, login to your account, and click on the "Web Widget" link:



Here is an example of how the widget will look. Both the cover image and the title text are clickable links, and both links lead directly to the catalog page where people can buy and download your book:



6. Should I include a copyright notice?

While not required, we do recommend adding a copyright and license notice immediately after the title (i.e., in the first page of your book file).

Here is an example:

7. What happens if my book is picked up by another publisher?

Your agreement with Fifobooks.com is non-exclusive, so you are free to negotiate deals with other publishers. You can either remove your book from sale at Fifobooks.com, or, if your agreement with your new publisher permits, continue to sell through Fifobooks.com as well as through your new publisher.

8. How much do I make on every sale?

You keep 80% of the sale price at the time of transaction. If you change the price of any of your books, the new price goes into effect for future sales only (i.e., it is not retroactive applied to past sales).

9. When do I get paid?

We send payments once a month, to the address you specify under the "Tax & Payment Details" section of your account profile. Checks are made out in U.S. dollars, payable to the name you used when you signed up for your account. If you are not a U.S. resident, payments will be made in either your local currency or U.S. dollars, depending on your location.

If you did not earn any proceeds for a given month, you will receive no notice from us. If your proceeds from sales for a given month are less than $200 U.S. dollars, we will withhold payment until you accumulate more than $200 U.S. dollars.

Please note that these payments may be taxable income to you. You are responsible for determining your own tax obligations with respect to these payments. If you are uncertain of your tax obligations, we recommend that you consult with a tax professional.
